Out of Nowhere Read online

  Tears are pouring down my cheeks at this revelation. I look to Bella. She’s smiling and also crying. “Ems, it was the most beautiful thing ever.” Swallowing the lump in my throat, I just nod. “Wow. I think she’s speechless,” Bella says. “First time ever.”

  Again, I just nod my head as Bella and Chase continue to chat. I’m not paying attention, I look around the hall, which is filled with those nearest and dearest to me and I smile, a real genuine Emerson smile. In this moment, I’m the happiest girl in the world. It’s my birthday and I just received the best present ever: Chase’s heart forever. Nearly two years ago, I thought I had lost it all, that my life was over, and then out of nowhere, I made a decision that changed my life for the better. Who knew that when I ran away from everything that I would get a second chance at my happily ever after? When a city girl falls for a country boy, anything is possible.

  EPILOGUE

  …Five years later

  IT’S AMAZING HOW IN AN instant your life can fall apart. Then out of nowhere, you make a rash decision that changes your path and on that new path, you heal. You grow and you find happiness once again. You meet a man, who could annoy you just by breathing, but then as you get to know him, you fall hopelessly in love with him. Chase is that man; he would go to the end of the earth and back for me. And when your past catches up with you, he runs with you and pulls you from the brink when everything is about to implode once again. Five years ago, when Chase came to New York, he not only saved the James Corporation and seven hundred jobs, but he swooped in and saved me as well.

  I’m lucky, I’ve had two amazing men in my life love me and now, as I rub my massive belly, I’ll have a third—Brian David Jonathan Archibald is due any day now. Chase and I have been trying since we got married four years ago, but the universe had other ideas.

  While we waited to expand our family, we embarked on some awesome adventures together. We travelled to Australia to visit Kenzie, Jordan, and the twins. Australia is such a beautiful country and we will definitely go back. We went skiing in Japan and on our last adventure, we trekked along the Great Wall of China. I wanted to do the whole wall, but that would take eighteen months—we didn’t have that long—so we did as much as we could in ten days.

  Lying back on the porch swing, I rub my belly and realize that our next vacation will be different. It will be a family holiday, but I’ve always wanted to go to Disneyland, Universal Studios, and LEGOLAND, so I’ll still get my adventures, they’ll just be family-oriented now.

  This city girl found her knight in cowboy boots in a small country town in the middle of Colorado. Chase Archibald swooped in out of nowhere and he breathed life back into me, but most of all he gave me a million reasons to be happy again.

  DL Gallie is from Queensland, Australia, but she’s lived in many different places all over the world, including the UK and Canada. She currently resides in Central Queensland with her husband and two munchkins. She and her husband have been together since she was sixteen, and although they drive each other crazy at times, she couldn’t imagine her life without him.

  Shortly after her son was born, DL began reading again. With encouragement from her husband, she picked up a pen and started writing and now the voices in her head won’t shut up.

  DL enjoys listening to music, drinking white wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and beer all year round. She’s also never been known to turn down a cocktail, especially a margarita.
